Your Reading, Listening and Writing tests are taken on the same day with no breaks. Whereas your Speaking test may be taken on the same day with the other three test or it may be taken a week before or after it, it totally depends on your test center.
What are IELTS-test types?
Most of the people get confused when they are opting for IELTS test type. While deciding about your test type, you should consider your purpose of taking IELTS. The internationally recognized English language proficiency test is of two types:
- IELTS Academic
You should opt for Academic IELTS if you are intending to study in any university of UK or considering to join any institute of higher education.
- IELTS General Training
This type of IELTS is opted by the ones who are planning to move to any English speaking countries. This test is necessary for them to survive in the workplace or social environment of the countries where they are migrating.
- IELTS life Skills
If you are thinking to get UK visas or immigration then you should opt for this IELTS test type. This test is taken as a visa requirement to check how proficiently you can communicate in the English language in your routine life. This test is a bit different from other two as in IELTS life skills, your speaking and listening English skills are assessed only, at levels A1 or B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
How to understand IELTS band score system?
If you are planning to take IELTS test, to start your preparation, or if you have taken IELTS and waiting for the result you must be worrying about your band scores.
IELTS band scores range from 0-9 and it represents your achievement in the IELTS test. A band score is given to each part of the test and the results of each part- Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking are summed and averaged to get the overall score for the IELTS test.
